Configuring the Network settings in the Control Panel
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, then double click Network.

- Three components are required for connection:
- Client for Microsoft Networks
- Dial Up Adapter
- TCP/IP
If Dial-Up Adapter is installed, skip this step. If not, click Add, then double
click "Adapter", select "Microsoft" on the left, and "Dial-Up
Adapter" on the right, and click"OK" 
If Client for Microsoft Networks is installed, skip this step. Click on
"Add", Select "Client", click "Add", select
"Microsoft" on the left, and "Client for Microsoft Networks" on the
right. Click "OK"
.
If TCP/IP is installed, skip this step. Click "Add", then double-click
Protocol, select "Microsoft" on the left and "TCP/IP" on the right,
and click "OK".

If any additional components are installed, such as NetBEUI or IPX/SPX, and you are not
hooked to a network, remove those protocols or clients now.
Click TCP/IP once to highlight it, then click on the button Properties, then click on
the following tabs to verify your settings:

- IP Address
:Obtain an IP Address Automatically

- WINS resolution
: Disable WINS Resolution

- DNS Configuration
:
Click "Enable DNS"
Host:Enter your username i.e. crhodes
Domain:richwoodwv.com
DNS Server Search Order

- If the following entries are present, skip this step. With the cursor in the left most
portion of the box to add entries, type the following numbers:
Primary DNS (207.68.80.20)
Type in the number. Click "Add"
Secondary DNS (207.68.80.113)
Type in the number. Click "Add"

After completing these steps click "OK" to close this window.
NOTE: -if your screen is in 64Ox480, the OK button will not be visible. Youll
see the tops of two buttons; the left one is the OK button.
Click OK to exit the Network configuration. A reboot may be in order - if so, you will
be prompted.
- Setting up the Dial-up connection for RichwoodWV.com
- Double click the "My Computer Icon", find and double click the "Dial-Up
Networking" icon.
 
- Note: If you have not yet set up any Dial-Up Networking connections, the Make New
Connection wizard will automatically run.
If there is already an icon for
RichwoodWV.com in this folder, skip this step. If not then Enter the following information
to create a connection for RichwoodWV.com:
- When prompted, enter "RichwoodWV.com" for the name of the computer you are
dialing, and click "Next".

- Enter the area code (304) and phone number (846-1310) for your local RichwoodWV.com
dialup, and click "Next".

- Click Finish to make an icon for the dial-up connection.
- Place your mouse over the RichwoodWV.com icon, then click with the right mouse button
(Right Click), a small gray dialog box appears. Scroll down the list and click (left
button) on "Properties". Click the "Server Type" button or tab. Verify
the following information is correct:

- Type of Dial-Up Server
:
PPP Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet
- Advanced Options
:
Log on to Network checked
Enable software compression checked
- Allowed Network Protocols
:
- TCP/IP (ONLY)

- Click TCP/IP Settings. Verify the following information is correct:
- Server assigned IP Address selected
- Specify name server addresses selected
- Primary DNS: (207.68.80.20)
- Secondary DNS: (207.68.80.113)
- Primary WINS: 0.0.0.0
- Secondary WINS: 0.0.0.0
- Use IP header compression checked
- Use default gateway on remote network checked
- Click OK on these screens.
- You may want to make a shortcut to the RichwoodWV.com icon on your desktop. To do so,
click your mouse on the icon and hold down the button. Drag the icon to your desktop, and
release the button. A message will appear, "You cannot copy or move this file to this
location, would you like to make a shortcut?" Click "Yes".

- Double-click on the RichwoodWV.com icon. The "Connect To:" box will appear.
Enter your username and your login password into the appropriate boxes, and click on
"Connect".
- NOTE
: Username and Password MUST be in all lowercase letters. After you connect, you
can load your browser.
- Configuring Internet Mail v1.0
- The first time you run Internet Mail you will be prompted for configuration information.
- Your e-mail address: username@richwoodwv.com
(Example: crhodes@richwoodwv.com)
- Your password
- Incoming Mail Server (POP3):mail.richwoodwv.com
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):mail.richwoodwv.com
