Types Of
Funds
Thompson/Douglas Scholarship Fund: George Douglas and his wife, Jean Thompson Douglas, have pledged
to donate up to $100,000 to the Webster County Community Fund for their new Scholarship Fund. This new fund will endow a scholarship to be awarded to a graduate of Webster County High School seeking a four-year degree from an accredited College or University
in West Virginia. The Douglas’ have agreed to match every dollar
contributed to the Thompson/Douglas Scholarship Fund by the community. Every time the Scholarship Fund
accumulates $5,000 in donations, the Douglas’ will add another $5,000 up
to $100,000.
Paula Green Children's Fund:
The Webster County Community Fund unanimously voted to rename the general Children’s Fund the Paula Green Children’s Fund in honor of Paula Green the Fund’s first Project Coordinator. This endowed fund will provide grants to support Children’s causes and activities throughout Webster County. “Paula laid the foundation for Webster County Community Fund and set us on the path for success,” said Stephanie Randolph, the current Project Coordinator. “The team wanted to find a way to honor her contribution and express their gratitude.” “She just loved working with the children”, said Betty Lashley, a
Team Member of the Fund. This seems like a great way to
recognize Paula. It is very appropriate to honor her in this way”. Paula Green
passed away in 2007 after an extended illness and a lifetime
of selfless giving.
