Woodchopping Festival

Webster Wildwater River Festival

   Wildwater Festival Enjoy a weekend of whitewater fun the first full weekend each April. Top whitewater racers come from throughout the region to compete, but novice paddlers also travel from miles around to race, have fun and enjoy the festival atmosphere. Activities include downriver and slalom races, fun floats on area rivers, live music and more. Also, while in the area, you can experience the Back Fork of Elk, Williams, Cranberry and Gauley Rivers which provide whitewater enthusiasts challenging water for a variety of skill levels. Jerry Run Summer Theatre, located on Rte 20, just over a mile north of Holly River State Park, offers live music on stage in a rustic theatre setting.  Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under. All shows begin at 7:00 p.m. and last approximately 2 hours with an intermission.  No smoking or alcohol allowed in theatre but concessions are availableFor additional information, call {304} 493-6574 or email: reneea@mountain.net. Webster County Nature Tour,Held annually, the first weekend of May, the tour is put on by the Webster Springs Garden Club. Explore wildflowers and other wonders of nature. Walking and driving tours of scenic areas of Webster County are conducted, along with evening entertainment. Lodging in primitive cabins, some meals, all tours and entertainment are included.  The weekend activity is centered at Camp Caesar.  For additional information regarding the nature tour please click here.

Webster County Woodchopping Festival

   Woodchopping Festival Each Memorial Day weekend, the Southern U.S. World Championship Woodchopper title is won at the annual Webster County Woodchopping Festival in Webster Springs.   The choppers come from as near as the scenic mountains of Webster County and as far away as Australia and New Zealand to compete.  Accompanying the woodchopping contest are many exciting events such as the Sports Weekend Tournaments, Car and Truck Shows, Motorcycle Show, West Virginia State Firemen's Rodeo Championship, the Grand Feature Parade, Arts and Crafts Shows, and the West Virginia State Turkey Calling Championship, all in addition to live music concerts.

Holly River Festival

The 2007 Holly River Festival was held August 31st - September 2nd at Holly River State Park.  There were 346 pictures entered in the photography contest.  The contest winners are as follows:

Winners under 18 Years of Age - Krista Hudson, Grand Prize, $50.00 Elizabeth DeJesus, Grand Prize Runner-Up, $25.00

Winners 18 Years of age and over - Randy Timm, Grand Prize, $50.00, Brenda Cobb, Grand Prize Runner-Up, $25.00.

Irish Road Bowling Tournament, held annually at Holly River State Park in October. This old-time sporting game originated in Ireland over 300 years ago and is now being played in scenic Webster County. Burgoo international Cook-off

Hometown White Christmas, Dec 1-Dec 31 in Webster Springs. Downtown streets, buildings and the Baker’s Island Recreation Area are decorated with thousands of white lights and dozens of interesting Christmas displays.
